BIO

Having started singing in folk clubs when I was a teenager, I branched out into the wider world of music, winning York’s Batle of the Bands at the age of 19, supporting music legends like Amy Wadge, Midge Ure, Eddie Reader, Aimee Mann, Kiki Dee, Toyah Willcox, plus more. I've played gigs across the country as a solo artist as well as with my band. I even ventured into the world of trance music, getting Radio 1 airplay with a song, 'By your side', I wrote with The Thrillseekers, and singing on a Judge Jules track.

Following a break away from music to focus on my family, I've returned to my roots as a singer-songwriter after recording a brand new album; and with many original songs in my collection, I've been able to select some of my very best to appear on the play list. I drafted in some very talented musicians to complement the songs wonderfully, and my good friend Dan Webster took the production helm, creating a record that I'm super excited about.

Influenced by a vast array of genres that span the last three decades, my music has flavours of Americana, folk, rock, indie, and much more, portraying a beautiful and tantalising blend of everything that has impacted my life so far.

I'm really looking forward to sharing my new songs and album with you all soon!

"Catchy melodies and stunning vocal work clearly show why Gina Dootson won the CRS award for best solo performer."  Classic Rock Society

"Gina Dootson’s experience of playing great venues all over the UK shines through in her performance. Passion, powerful delivery and superb songwriting reveals influences from the likes of Shawn Colvin, Radiohead, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, The Sundays, Lloyd Cole etc. Gina is not your average strumming singer – she handles an acoustic guitar with a strength and attack rarely seen, coupled with a voice packed with emotion. You have to see her!" Fishpond, Matlock Bath

"A talented young lady who is sure to go far!" Rock of the north

"The emotive and powerfully well written material proves Gina Dootson to be an honest and true to herself singer-songwriter. She is a highly competent musician that makes you angry she isn’t signed up to a major label. Her lyrics are as fitting for the hard lives and times of women as well as men, and the guitar works embrace every word into contagious melodies. Gina Dootson doesn’t seem to be dedicated to a gender or genre; she is most likely dedicated to bringing out whatever is going through her mind at a particular time, and it so happens that you the man, or you the woman feel the same. After all, we are all under the same roof." Writing Tipi
